I'm back in Ottawa for reading week! A nice week off. I was at Urban Outfitters a couple of days ago, and all their sale items were 30% off! I had to take a look. Unfortunately, I was slightly disappointed. I did find this tank top, it's simple, longer in the back, and dark grey. Nothing too fancy, but it was a great deal! I miss wearing these boots, but they have a hole in the sole, and I've already had the heels replaced, so I've kind of given up on them.

[DIY] Shoulder Cutout to No Sleeves

I talked about this shirt a few weeks ago now, and finally got to work on it! Although it's nothing special, I'm glad I got it done. I started off with that sort of shoulder cutout type of look, but had made the cut too close to the neck. I didn't like it, so I simply decided to take the sleeves off. As an extra little added bonus, I added two little triangular studs at the collar. You know, just to give it a little something something. As for the buttons, I'll try to work on that later. For now, I like the simplicity of it!

Yes I do realize my work is a little big rough...I'm no designer!

Guess who's two roommates were out, got very bored, and threw makeup on her face? Yup that's me with all my poofy hair. I thought I'd try to be all....mysterious? Or something, I'm not really quite sure. Although this is not a very beauty related post, I still felt like sharing. I love how the focus turned out in the first photo. That strand of hair on my shoulder is nicely out of focus, but still soft. I know that might be a huge deal for some, but I thought it looked neat.

The collection was classic Oscar de la Renta. Not that there is anything wrong with that! The pieces are all so beautiful with great detail.

Cora Emmanuel for 3.1 Phillip Lim

I love what he's done with the sweater. A very zoomed in effect of a classic tweed pattern. It takes a second to realize that that is what it is, but once you do realize, it cannot be unseen.

Isaac for Band of Outsiders

Clearly, I'm directed towards a lot of looks with sweaters. As it is the Fall/Winter collections, sweaters are a necessity! Going through the Band of Outsiders collection, I noticed a lot of light colours, which can sometimes be unusual for Fall/Winter, but I like that they kept it light.

The detailing on all the pieces is absolutely amazing. I love the all black look with the gold, it pops out perfectly.

Ruby Aldridge for Marc by Marc Jacobs

As you may know, I'm a sucker for the collar trend. Here, Marc did an interesting combination of combining a classic, simple collar with a turtleneck. I think it turned out very lovely! I really enjoy the effect it gives.

This collection had such a great variety of textures and shapes. I simply loved the look of this garment, it's fun and interesting to look at, yet is still quite flattering

I don't have any plans on this Friday night, so I've been online browsing for the past little while. There are a lot of spring items already! Another very important item of clothing I'm on the hunt for is a new pair of high waisted black jeans. The issue is I can never find any that are long enough! I need at least a 34 length, and all I'm finding is 30 or 32. I'm tired of having cold uncovered ankles! I know it might be a trend now, but it's an issue I've dealt with my for so long, I just want some black skinny jeans that cover my ankles. Here are a few I found on the Urban Outfitters website, but only the BDG Cigarette High-Rise Jean - Washed Black are 34 length, the rest are too short!

I was in Ottawa over the weekend for my grandmother's funeral. She was such an amazing and inspirational woman. She will be greatly missed. I posted a video a few posts ago about collars, and I do really love them! I find they can accent an outfit perfectly. There is such a variation of styles that can make any outfit from preppy to edgy. It's really the perfect piece to add to any ensemble.

Detached collars are great fun too! If you have any collared shirt, and you may not like the fit of it, just cut off the collar. Embellish it anyway you'd like and you can wear it with any shirt, sweater, or dress.

I was at Yorkdale today (once again) shopping with my friend Talia. I had remembered about the Decolette lipstick Jenn from clothesencounters wears a lot. It's such a lovely shade and had to look into it. I tried it out, and loved it! I also a gift certificate to Sephora from Christmas, so it worked out perfectly. From the photos, it looks quite pinkish, but it's actually a little darker and has the slightest hint of brown to it. It's nice to finally have a lipstick that is a little bit more neutral, and not so out there! But it still gives my lips that extra little umph!

I was at Yorkdale today to meet up with one of my friends Jamie. Once she hopped on the bus, I decided to take a look around. I ended up at Zara, where they had plenty of great sales! I'd been look for a wide brimmed fedora hat for a while, but couldn't find any that fit well/properly. Finally! At Zara, in the sale section, I found this lovely hat. Navy blue, with a light blue ribbon. It fit perfectly! I had to get it, and the best part about it? It was only $11!

I've been watching lots of videos by the ladies at clothesencounters. I love all the ideas and outfits they put together. Always so chic and trendy. One thing I've come to notice a lot, is their choice in lipstick. They're all so lovely! My favourite right now is the Decolette by Sephora that Jenn wears a lot. I might have to get myself some. It's subtle, but gives your lips a lovely shade of pink. This is my favourite video thus far by them. Jenn portrays many different ways to wear collars in an outfit, and they're all fabulous!

As many of you may know, I almost got in a pretty big bike accident a few months ago, which resulted in snapping my Ray Ban Wayfarer's in half. It was a sad sad day. I haven't found a new pair to replace them, until now! I've discovered that Ray Ban has a new style of sunglasses called Meteor. Looking at them, I find they're sort of a cross between the Wayfarers and the Club Masters. I really like the look of them, and I really hope I can get my hands on some tortoise shell ones!

I was at Topshop today, and after exchanges my brother's shirt, I decided to take a look upstairs. There were lots of great reductions! I started picking stuff off the rack like crazy. I tried on a few things, and I didn't think I'd like this shirt, but I thought it gave a very neat effect. I thought I'd pair it with Media lipstick from MAC to give it a strong contrast.

[DIY] Beginning of the Slit Shoulder & Gold Buttons

I've got all the materials to recreate this shirt, I just need to figure out the proper way to do it. I can easily do the slits in the shoulders, I just couldn't find my fabric scissors at the moment, so I'll do it tomorrow. As for the buttons, my friend Ainslie let me go through her big bag of buttons. I found these lovely gold ones! I think they would complement the purple quite wonderfully. In the photo of the shirt, it looks slightly more pinkish than the actual colour. I have horrible lighting in my room to take a photo with the proper colour (without flash...) but I'll be sure that once it's complete, to photograph it outside, with better lighting!

Ok so as mentioned, the colour is actually almost like a royal purple. I'm pretty sure the fabric is silk, if not...it's very good fake silk. Found at VV Boutique for $5.99!

These are the buttons! One problem....the button holes are a lot smaller than the buttons...hopefully I can figure something out that won't ruin the whole shirt! Because it would look so neat with them.

I've finally found a good wall to take photos on! I have to move some furniture though, but I think it's worth it. Nice bare wall! I tried to do my eyeliner slightly differently. This! Is my Christmas Wish List. As for the bangle, I tried one on at Holts that was black and silver, and had a bit of an oval shape. It fit my wrist perfectly! There is also the point that I would really love to get a new lens for my camera to be able to take better street style and fashion photography. That is to be discussed more in detail with my father and brother to figure out which one would work best.

I looove this embellished top from Topshop. I think it would be lovely for New Years! We'll see...

My friend Alex Harea hosted a matinee yesterday. There was some great music and treats! For one of his songs, he paired up with Owen and gave it a bit of a hip hop/rap twist. I thought it sounded great! Take a listen...

City Downtown is coming to an end! So the sales have began. I've wanted this necklace from the beginning! We had two of them, and there was the one left for me! I was so glad we still had it, I would have been regretful for not getting it. The necklace is made by a company called Its your Life, and they make lots of wonderful vintage inspired pieces! I love this necklace because it's not too BAM! but it's still fun.

My friend Talia and I decided to head down to the Lakeshore today to take some photos and enjoy the nice sunny day. It wasn't too hot, nor too cold. It was nice to just sit, and enjoy the day. I really wanted to wear my vest out today, but it looked so bulky wearing it underneath my jacket. That's when Talia suggested wearing it over, and I was quite pleased with the way it looked.

I'd been looking for a not so expensive faux fur vest for quite some time. I finally stumbled across one at Forever 21 for a price point I was happy with! I'm back home! And I got to see my parents, it's been two whole months. They had gone on a very fancy trip in the Mediterranean and my mom, knowing I love bright lipstick, brought me back an Yves Saint Laurent lipstick! I was so excited when she brought the box out and when I took the lipstick out, I fell in love with the colour! Rose Culte from the Rouge Volupté line.

[BEAUTY] Topshop Lipstick

As mentioned in the previous post, I finally checked out Topshop in Toronto. I didn't give in to the Nars bright pink lipstick, because I'm a student, and I wasn't really up for paying 30$ for it. I got the next best thing though! Lips by Topshop lipstick in Brighton Rock. I think it's a fabulous colour! And it's slightly matte. Not really a fall colour, but I like having a little bright pop of colour with my darker fall shades of clothing.

I got the chance to volunteer at the fashion show run by Coco Rocha in Toronto called The shOws. I unfortunately wasn't able to get to my camera for the first show, Thomas Tait, but he had a wonderful collection! I was obsessed with the sunglasses, they were amazing. The second show was for Calla. The prints were very spring like which, of course, is perfect for a spring/summer collection. Her collection also included lots of very neat sunglasses...I want them all...Anyway, I tried my best to sneak some photos! Enjoy :)

[DIY] Knit Wool Circle Scarf

I'm scrolling through Tumblr, and some photos from the Chanel 2012 spring/summer ready-to-wear collection are showing up. I'm absolutely loving the colours, shapes, and the chic simplicity the collection has. Light mint/sea foam is making a new appearance for spring. It's such a lovely colour and works with many different shapes. This first outfit has to be my favourite!

As part of my program at school, this semester one of our courses includes a business lab. We essentially are given a budget and we have to run a store in our school. People buy products, we make profits, and buy more merchandise. I'm part of the promo team, so whenever we have events, I'm usually the one who will be photographing it.
